This project used fluorescence-based fiber optic temperature sensing in an MRI and RF environment.
A non-conductive fiber optic probe was positioned at the required measurement location, while the optical fiber carried the sensing signal to the external temperature monitoring instrument.
The arrangement provides point temperature measurement without introducing conductive electrical sensor wiring into the measurement area.
MRI and RF environments can create measurement challenges for conventional electrical temperature sensors because metallic conductors and electrical signal paths may interact with strong electromagnetic fields.
The application required a temperature measurement method with a non-conductive sensing path and optical signal transmission.
Fiber optic point sensing was therefore used to measure temperature at the selected location while keeping the electrical monitoring equipment outside the measurement area.
The fluorescence-based fiber optic probe measures temperature at a defined point.
Optical fibers transmit the excitation and return signals between the probe and the external monitoring instrument.
Because the sensing path is optical and non-conductive, the measurement arrangement is suitable for environments where metallic electrical sensor wiring is undesirable.
The fiber optic probe was positioned according to the required measurement location and available installation space.
Optical fiber routing was arranged between the sensing point and the external monitoring equipment while considering fiber length, bending radius and mechanical protection.
The sensing configuration can be adjusted according to the measurement position and equipment arrangement.
The external fiber optic temperature instrument receives the optical signal from the installed probe and converts it into temperature data.
Temperature values can be viewed through the connected monitoring interface.
For applications requiring multiple measurement locations, additional fiber optic channels can be configured according to the required number of sensing points.
The completed arrangement provides point temperature measurement in an MRI and RF environment using a non-conductive optical sensing path.
The fiber optic probe, optical connection and external monitoring instrument form a complete temperature measurement chain from the sensing location to the monitoring interface.
This configuration provides a practical reference for temperature measurement in MRI, RF and other strong electromagnetic environments where electrically isolated sensing is required.
