Multi-point fiber optic sensing
This project applied fluorescence-based fiber optic temperature sensing to selected locations around a generator stator winding assembly.
Multiple fiber optic temperature probes were arranged at defined stator winding points to provide direct temperature measurement during equipment operation.
The optical sensing arrangement allows individual winding locations to be monitored independently through separate measurement channels.
Generator stator windings operate under high electrical loading and strong electromagnetic fields. Temperature conditions can vary between different winding positions, slots and structural locations.
The project required direct temperature measurement at selected stator winding points without introducing conductive sensor wiring into the measurement locations.
A multi-point fiber optic sensing arrangement was therefore used to obtain temperature data from the selected stator positions.
Fiber optic temperature probes were positioned at selected locations around the stator winding structure according to the required temperature monitoring points.
Each probe corresponds to an individual measurement position, allowing temperatures at different stator locations to be monitored separately.
